How to Waterproof Window Wells

Here in the Pocono’s we have had a tremendous amount of rain and flooding. One problem we come across a lot are window wells that fill up with water and cause either the basement window to leak or there’s a leak coming in from a crack caused by the window well. Are you dealing with a similar issue. This can be a real cause for concern especially if your basement has finished walls and flooring in it. What can be done to fix such a problem?

Window wells are designed to keep back water, dirt and debris from collecting near your basement window and your foundation. When installed there’s supposed to be at the bottom of the window well in the gravel some sort of drainage to allow any water that may enter the window well to be properly drained out. Most window wells we come across either don’t have any drainage installed or there clogged beyond belief.

There are a few ways to eliminate this problem the first and obvious one would be to eliminate the window if at all possible and block it up and do away with the window well all together. 2nd the window well would need to be removed and a drain put in at the bottom pitching either away from the home or connecting to an existing down spout drain. There is a 3rd option and one that we here at Dry-ngo L.L.C have found to be very efficient and cost effective. If you would like to learn what this method is and how it could solve your window well problems, contact us today and let our trained professionals help you with your waterproofing needs and concerns.
